How To Add Video in WordPress.com When You Don’t Use You Tube
This is a short tutorial on how to add video on your wordpress.com site. It is on the WordPress.tv site. It is clear and walks you through using this cool plugin feature.
Note that using a self-hosted WordPress.org means you insert a plug-in. But using the hosted WordPress.com means you must pay for an upgrade.

Did You Know You Can Have Your Own Domain Name With WordPress.com?
Now many of you who read the title may get confused. You are saying I already have a domain name with this hosted blog platform. Well, the key is the term “hosted blog”.
Remember that WordPress.com is a Hosted Blog Platform. WordPress.org is a self-hosted blog platform.
With the WordPress.com (hosted) platform your blog address will have “username.wordpress.com. However, when you go to a self hosted platform you will need domain name that you purchase. Your url will read username.com/org/net/info, etc
Now, the good news is that if you are on hosted WordPress.com you can still have your own domain name WITHOUT the .wordpress.com at the end. All you have to do is go to UPGRADES on your Administration panel.
It is the very last, I mean very last option on panel. Click it on and for a small fee you can upgrade. You will first need to purchase a domain name and then place it the the field indicated.

How to Add Pictures to Your Blog Post from the Web

First locate a picture that is LEGAL to copy.
- right click on your mouse on the image you want to copy. you will be given the option to save the link or save target as. or
- Click on the properties option and you will see the url. Copy that url.
Click on the Add An Image Icon (That is the first icon you see after the title bar)
· Click the FROM URL tab in the ADD an Image window. This will open the Add Media Files Window
· Type the full URL including the http and www of the address.
· Type a title for the image in the Image Title text box.
· You can, if you wish, type a caption of the image in the Image Caption text box. The words you type here will actually display underneath the image on your blog post. Also, this will provide something called an alt tag which enables someone blind to know what the image is all about. It also enables the search engines to read it.
·
· Choose an alignment. You may choose to select None, Left, Center or Right.
· Decide where you want your readers to go if they click on the image. You can do this by typing in the URL you want the image to be linked to. None means you don’t want the image to be clickable. Whereas, Link to Image means that readers can click through to the direct image.
· Click the Insert into Post button.
Exercise: Copy one of the images below. Create the post URL or add the url you captured from the properties to a blog post.

How To Add An Image From Your Computer To Your Blog Post
Yes, the information you have been waiting is finally here. I am going to show you how to add images directly from your hard drive to your blog post.
- Click the Add an Image icon directly under the title page. It will be the first tab next to From URL and Media Library.
- Click the From Computer tab
- Click the Select Files button. This will open a box (called a dialog box) which will give you the opportunity to select images from your hard drive.
Critical Note: The interface that is used by WordPress.org and WordPress.com is based on Adobe Flash. Now, you really don’t need to know what that is right now but only that if your operating system can’t handle Adobe Flash applications you will know it as soon as you click on the Select Files button. If things act stupid then click on a Non-Flash option which is Browser Uploader.
- Select your image(s) then click Open
- Type a title for the image. If one is already there you can type over it.
- Type a caption for the image which will be displayed in your blog post.
- Type a description of the image.(Optional)
- Under the field Link to Url you can type the Url(web address) you want people to go to after they click on the image. Now, if you do not want the image clickable then you can leave that space blank.
Let us take a closer look at your options. The None button means you DO NOT want the image to be clickable.
The File Url button means that your readers can clickthrough to the direct image itself.
The Post Url means that your readers can click through to the specific post that the image appears in. You can type your own URL in the Link Url text box.
- For Alignment you can choose None,Left, Right, or Center. It is also important to note that in some Themes the alignment options may not work unless you play around with the code in the style sheet. I know that is a mouth full but just know that you may need help if the alignment does not work.
- Choose the size you want to image to appear in on your blog post. Your options are Thumbnail, Medium, Large or Full Size. I always choose medium if my image is very large. In some instances you may need to bring your images into software like Photoshop Elements to resize them.
